Master's in Agricultural Engineering in Crop Production, Economics and Extension Forestry, Postgraduate Degree in Phytomedicine, and PhD in Agricultural Economics, University of Hohenheim, Germany. Formerly: consulted and undertook research for a number of agencies and locations, including Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ, formerly GTZ) and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) with assignments in the Caribbean, China, Myanmar, Niger, the Pacific Islands, and Togo, among others. Since 1991, with The World Bank: former Principal Agricultural Specialist and Rural Sector Coordinator, Beijing, then Sector Manager, Agriculture, Europe and Central Asia region; 2008-14, Director, Agriculture and Environmental Services, Sustainable Development Network; since May 2014, Senior Director, Agriculture Global Practice. Has played a key role in shaping the global agenda on agriculture and food security.
