Mooyoung Jung, Ph.D., became UNIST’s third president on September 28, 2015. He had previously served as provost, vice president, and deans since July 1, 2008. He received his B.S. of Aeronautical Engineering from Seoul National University, Korea in 1972. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. of Industrial Engineering from Kansas State University, USA in 1981 and 1984, respectively. He had been with the Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Platteville, USA for two years and POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology), Korea for 22 years since 1984 before he joined with UNIST in 2008. He is a founding member of IIEA (International Industrial Engineers Association), a senior member of IIE (Institute of Industrial Engineers), a fellow of KIIE (Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers), and a fellow of KSPE (Korean Society of Precision Engineering) as well. He received the Back-Am Best Paper Award and the Academic Achievement Award, 1992 and 1997, respectively from KIIE. He has published more than 200 research papers in the fields of Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Intelligent Manufacturing, and Agile Manufacturing. His current research interests include applications of Fractal Concepts to Management and Energy Systems.
