Milagros Rivas is currently the Global Head of the Advisory Solutions Department at IFC, a member of the World Bank Group. Her team is responsible for advising private sector clients on sustainable solutions that help address energy, environmental and social challenges in emerging markets. Such solutions range from helping companies use resources like energy and water more efficiently to building the necessary skillsets for stronger business performance. Her division also aims to enable favorable market environments by partnering with key stakeholders – for instance, improving people’s access to off-grid energy by helping develop the respective market for solar products. Before joining IFC Ms. Rivas was the Director of Strategy and CEO Office and member of the Executive Committee at Acciona Energía. Previously, she had held various global executive positions at Acciona Corporation in the energy, infrastructure and water sector s, in evolving roles such as Strategy and Innovation Director, Process and Environment Director, and Corporate Development Manager. Ms. Rivas has also worked at the McKinsey & Co, where she was a member of the Wholesale Energy Markets Leadership Group, and has served as a civil engineer in the construction company ACS. Ms. Rivas holds a Master of Civil Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid where she was ranked #1 in her class and received the National Award for the Outstanding Graduate of the Year.
