Dr. Nita Shala
Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Italy, San Marino & Malta • Legal Scholar • Rule of Law & Gender Justice Advocate
Nita Shala is a diplomat, legal scholar, and former public official with extensive experience in international law, justice reform, and gender-based policy. She currently serves as Ambassador of Kosovo to Italy, with concurrent accreditation to San Marino and Malta. Previously, she was Deputy Minister of Justice and National Coordinator against Domestic Violence in Kosovo.
For the Albanian government, she served as advisor to the Minister of Interior and advisor to the Ambassador of Albania to the United Nations Mission in Geneva.
Nita Shala holds a PhD in International Law from the Graduate Institute, Geneva, an MSc from Oxford, an LLM from the University of Teramo, and a BA from the University of Prishtina, and is an alumna of Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education.
Dr. Shala is also an Assistant Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Prishtina and has advised institutions such as the UN, OSCE, World Bank, and the Hague Tribunal. She is passionate about youth engagement and social impact, founding the Young Shapers of Albania Hub and serving as Curator of the Global Shapers Community and Country Chair for Global Dignity in Albania and Kosovo.
