Purniya is a women's rights advocate, who strongly believes in making this world a safer place for women. Being a part of UN Women Pakistan, she was actively involved in the planning and executing phase of the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Campaign to End Violence against Women and Girls and The National Human Rights Defenders Day in 2012. She worked with Shirkat Gah-- Women's Resource Center, as a Programme Officer under a project called WELDD (Women's Empowerment and Leadership Development for Democratization). Purniya has also worked as a Research Associate at Kilam Law and Policy Think Tank to launch "Courting the Law"- Pakistan's 1st Legal News and Analysis Portal and successfully contributed her work on marital rape, SRHR, breastfeeding rights in Pakistan and abortion, after which she joined The Digital Rights Foundation as Advocacy&Outreach Officer. Recently, she worked as a Communications Specialist at PCSW (The Punjab Commission on the Status of Women). Aside from holding an Honors B.A. in Women's Studies from York University, Purniya holds 2 certificates in Women's Human Rights Education Institutes from University of Toronto (CEDAW and International Humans Rights Law); a certificate in International Women's Health and Human Rights from Stanford University; a certificate in Global Health And Humanitarianism from University of Manchester and a certificate w/ distinction in Global Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights from Lund University.
