Degree in Economics and Social Science, University of Michigan. With The New York Times since 2017 as Deputy Managing Editor and also Deputy Editor of the Publisher since 2021. Previously at The Wall Street Journal: 1995, joined the Journal covering General Motors in Detroit; former Page One Editor and Managing Editor, WSJ.com, and International News Editor; 2005-09, China Bureau Chief, leading the team that won the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting in 2007; since 2013, Deputy Editor-in-Chief. Part of the Aspen Institute's Henry Crown Fellowship.
