Sebastian Troeng

Executive Vice-President, Global Conservation, Conservation International

Sebastian Troëng is a global conservation executive who is Executive Vice President for field delivery at Conservation International (CI). CI’s field delivery is present in 26 countries and on the world’s oceans with a team of 650 staff who deliver conservation impact, so people can thrive. Dr. Troëng is engaged in discussions with and regularly provides advice on sustainability to Heads of State, ministers, global corporate leaders and communities. Dr. Troëng holds a Master’s degree in marine environmental protection from the University of Wales and a Doctoral degree in animal zoology from Lund University, Sweden. He has worked on conservation and development issues for over 25 years, in Latin America, Asia, Pacific Islands, Europe, USA and Africa. Sebastian has published extensively on conservation and the economic benefits of ecosystems. In 2010, Sebastian was named a “40-under-40 International Development Leader” in Washington DC. He enjoys being over and under water to observe nature and diverse wildlife, and to engage with people who depend on healthy ecosystems for their livelihoods and prosperity. Since 2015, Sebastian lives with his family in Bogotá, Colombia.
