In September 2-17, Sim took over as the sole Group Chief Executive, Standard Bank Group. In January 2018, he was appointed to the board of the Institute of International Finance. In June 2018, he was elected Vice-President of the International Monetary Conference, having served on its board since 2016. In August 2018, Sim was made a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers of South Africa.
