With the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA), Washington DC: from 1988, Associate Curator; Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art; later, Chief Curator/Deputy Director; since 2008, Director. Has authored many brochures, catalogues and books during tenure at NMWA. Member: Association of Art Museum Directors; American Alliance of Museums; College Art Association; ArtTable; QM2 Directors Roundtable; International Women's Forum. Recipient of honours: Orders of Merit from Brazil and Norway; President's Award of the Women's Caucus for Art; one of ArtTable's 30 most influential professional women in the visual arts (2011).
