Tengku Muhammad Taufik is the President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS). He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Finance & Accounting from the Strathclyde University, Glasgow, Scotland. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

His areas of expertise include developing and steering key business strategies, organisational transformation, and financial and risk management. He has vast experience in strategic planning, finance, and business strategy development with a focus on the oil and gas and energy industry. He continues to advocate a just and responsible energy transition by promoting regional partnerships across multiple stakeholder groups in policy shaping, innovation and technology.

In addition to holding Board positions in PETRONAS and its subsidiaries, he also chairs the Gentari Board, the Malaysian National Trust Fund, the East Coast Economic Region Development Council Audit Committee and Northern Corridor Implementation Authority Audit Committee.

Tengku Muhammad Taufik is an Exco Member of the World Business Council for Sustainability Development, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Merdeka Award Trust, the WEF Oil and Gas Governors Community and Co-Chairman of the WEF ASEAN Leaders for Just Energy Transition Community. He is also the Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS.

In 2021, he was conferred the Darjah Kebesaran Panglima Jasa Negara (P.J.N.) which carries the title "Datuk," and in 2023, he was conferred the Darjah Kebesaran Panglima Setia Mahkota (P.S.M.) which carries the title "Tan Sri," in recognition of his services to Malaysia.
