Started career as Reservoir Engineer, Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO). Former Project Engineer, Masdar. Worked to advance renewable energy technologies and solutions. Played an instrumental role in the UAE's successful 2009 bid to host to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). Former Director, Directorate of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Former Permanent Representative of the UAE to the IRENA, the first international organization dedicated to renewable energy. February 2016, appointed as Minister of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE. Chairman, UAE Council for Climate Change and Environment. Member of several committees including the ‏Emirates Green Development Council, as well as the Audit and Selection Committees of the Zayed Future Energy Prize. First Gulf Cooperation Council Excellence Award in recognition of pioneering efforts in renewable energy (2015).
