Geneva and New York, 21 September 2018 – The World Economic Forum, the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation, hosts its second Sustainable Development Impact Summit in New York on 24-25 September to drive solutions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Paris Agreement on climate change.

The Summit is a platform for leaders from around the world representing key stakeholders to work together across sectors in fast-tracking solutions to the world’s most complex problems.

The Summit’s thematic pillars are: building sustainable markets; mobilizing development finance; environmental sustainability; and harnessing science and technology for the global commons.

The World Economic Forum believes that only through unprecedented cooperation can we bring about the systemic change needed for an inclusive and sustainable global economy. The programme is available here.

“The Sustainable Development Impact Summit is the world’s ‘accelerator’ for sustainable development action and comes when unprecedented collaboration is needed to fast-track solutions to the world’s most complex problems,” said Dominic Waughray, Head of the Global Centre for Public Goods, World Economic Forum.

“It is a platform that seeks to energize existing partnerships; catalyse new and innovative alliances; and help people harness the Fourth Industrial Revolution to drive impact in line with the Global Goals and Paris Climate Agreement.”

The 100 coalitions show that transformational action on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is occurring worldwide and can be quickly scaled when all sectors of society work together, innovate and use technology to achieve far-reaching, sustainable impact.

The co-chairs of the Sustainable Development Impact Summit are: Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana; Alex Gorsky, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Johnson & Johnson, USA; Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh; Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman, Bharti Enterprises, India; Barbara Novick, Vice-Chairman, BlackRock, USA; and Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Prime Minister of Denmark.

Participants include entrepreneurs and leaders from business, civil society, non-profit and international organizations, government, policy, science and technology. They represent nations, organizations, civil society and businesses at the forefront of public-private cooperation. Leaders from the Forum communities of Global Shapers, the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, Young Global Leaders and Technology Pioneers will participate.
