The MENA region has the highest youth unemployment rate in the world (29%, 2012), a rate that is expected to increase at the current socio-economic pace. In light of long-term economic aspirations of the Arab world as well as the current social context, addressing this challenge is clearly at the forefront of policy and business agendas.
The Initiative aims to identify key challenges and potential solutions to tackle unemployment and closing skills gaps in MENA. Specific goals include:

External impact:

  • Help leaders anticipate future trends and disruptions in MENA’s labour market.

  • Provide analysis, insights and practical suggestions that will help leaders develop effective interventions at the community, corporate and government levels.

  • Build a community of leaders who are at the forefront of MENA’s employment, skills and human-capital developments.
