Closing the Gender Gap Accelerator Egypt

Egypt is home to 48.7 million women, and improvements to their conditions will have a significant impact on the country’s economic and social progress. Whilst Egypt has shown steady improvement on educational attainment due to smaller gender gaps in literacy and tertiary education, gaps continue to exist with respect to economic participation and opportunity for women.

The Ministry of Tourism, National Council for Women and the Platform for Shaping the Future of the New Economy and Society have partnered to work together on closing the economic gender gap by setting up a Country Accelerator on Closing the Gender Gap. The Accelerator will aim to hardwire gender parity in the future of work, advance more women into management and leadership positions, close gender gaps in remuneration and investment and increase women’s participation in the labour force.
