Accelerating Value Chain Decarbonization for Corporate Growth: Perspectives from Asia

Asia sits at the centre of the global net-zero transition, powering more than half of recent global growth while accounting for the majority of global CO2 emissions. For Asian companies, value chain emissions typically represent 65–95% of their carbon footprint, turning supply chains into both the hardest challenge and the largest opportunity for competitive, low-carbon growth.

Written by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with State Grid Corporation of China, with data support from CDP, Accelerating Value Chain Decarbonization for Corporate Growth: Perspectives from Asia sets out the business case for Scope 3 action. It shows how addressing physical and transition risks, improving efficiency and financial performance and unlocking new low-carbon revenues can collectively generate up to $3 trillion in value.

Through case studies from several companies, the paper presents a practical blueprint for starting from within, empowering supply chains, harnessing industrial ecosystems and driving a wider cultural shift towards sustainable growth.
