Switzerland’s solar railway is on the right track

The world’s first-ever ‘solar railway’, installed in Switzerland last year, has been a success - and it could pave the way for trials in more countries. Next stop: South Korea.  Swiss company Sun-Ways lays solar panels in the space between train tracks. If rolled out across Switzerland’s entire 5,200km rail network, Sun-Ways says, these panels could supply a percentage of the country’s electricity, without leaving any visual or environmental footprint.
