These 3D-printed pills make treatment easier. Here’s how

They’re printed layer by layer to create complex geometric structures. They dissolve differently to standard pills so that some chronic patients could take fewer pills per day. The pills also unfold while they’re in the stomach, which stops them passing into the bowel. This means they can release their medicine in a uniquely tailored way, such as over a 24-hour period or a 7-day period.
