‘AI agents’ could transform workplaces. But what are they?

AI agents are the next step up from large language models like ChatGPT. They can make decisions and take action autonomously after gathering and analysing data. So while a chatbot might provide information to a customer, for example, an AI agent could decide on a solution for that customer and then put it into action.
