These AI pioneers just won the Nobel Prize in Physics

Geoffrey Hinton and John Hopfield received this year’s award for ‘foundational discoveries’ that enabled powerful machine learning. Their work began in the 1980s. Hopfield created an artificial neural network that stored images according to pattern, the way the brain stores memories.
