This man is using art to fight plastic waste
Benjamin Von Wong is a Canadian artist and activist. He builds giant environmental art installations using the plastic waste we throw away every day. Von Wong’s most recent installation is a 6.5m-tall phoenix made from more than 2 tonnes of biochar, a charcoal-like substance which sequesters carbon. The interplay in Von Wong’s work between reality and fantasy is key to its power, he says.
