Building Strategic Intelligence Series 2021 - Air Pollution in Transformation - English
Air pollution is the world’s number one environmental health risk, linked to up to 7 million deaths every year and 9 out of 10 people worldwide live in places where air quality exceeds the World Health Organisation’s guideline limits. This episode of Our World in Transformation looks at what air pollution is doing to our planet and ourselves. The impacts of worsening air pollution extend beyond human health, affecting climate change, the water cycle, energy and food production. And as pollution inequality between the world’s richest and poor is widening, we’ll be looking at how cities and regions in low- and middle-income countries are responding to the rising threat of air pollution. Our two expert guests for this session are Anumita Roychowdhury, Executive Director of Research and Advocacy at the Centre for Science and Environment, and Iyad Kheirbek, Director of the Air Quality Program at the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group.
