Cities are home to most of the world’s population and account for 80% of global GDP. Despite occupying only 3% of the world’s land they’re responsible for 70% of CO2 emissions and two-thirds of global energy demand. Experts estimate that cities will gain 2.5 billion more new residents by 2050.
