Fungi discovered in the ocean could generate new life-saving antibiotics

Scientists have found large numbers of fungi living in the ocean's twilight zone in the largest-ever analysis of microbial ocean DNA. Every litre of seawater contains billions of microbes. In the past, sequencing this ocean DNA has been slow and costly but advances in AI and supercomputing have removed many roadblocks.
