These scientists built the world’s most powerful hurricane simulation tank

The University of Miami’s SUSTAIN Lab is one of a kind. It’s the world’s most powerful wind-wave tank and the only one that can model Category 5 hurricanes with winds of over 250kph. The tank is built from reinforced acrylic and lets scientists study in forensic detail what happens when hurtling winds strike a coastline.
