Ireland has set a new record for wind power

On 6 December, Ireland hit a wind power output of 4.66GW a new record for the whole island. By midnight, the wind had provided 70% of Ireland’s total electricity. This figure had been higher on only 6 days in the past. 10% of the day’s wind energy was even exported to Britain as surplus. Ireland is already one of the world leaders in wind power. It generates the 4th largest amount of electricity from wind, per capita.
