MomCare is Giving Life-changing Pregnancy Care to Low-Income Women

MomCare is making maternal care more affordable for women on low incomes, ensuring safer pregnancies. It’s helping teenage mums, in particular, avoid social stigma and financial stress. The initiative is based in Kenya and Tanzania. MomCare uses a ‘value-based’ healthcare approach, which means healthcare providers are compensated based on the outcomes of their patients. Healthcare providers and expectant mothers agree on a care plan together and align on a value-based payment schedule. MomCare payments are released to providers only once the care has been delivered. The programme is offered by the non-profit health organization PharmAccess Foundation. Watch the video to learn more about this maternal care programme.
