These ‘Reef Stars’ help coral recover surprisingly fast

They're hexagonal steel frames coated in coral sand. Mars Sustainable Solutions has been using them to restore coral reefs in Indonesia. The reefs had been largely destroyed by explosives used in fishing. The Mars team attached coral fragments to the Reef Stars. Scientists from Exeter University studied what happened next. After 4 years the reefs were indistinguishable from healthy reefs.
