Subways Halve Emissions

The World Bank studied 192 global cities with underground transport systems and computed their ‘counterfactual’ CO2 emissions. Which is what the cities would emit if residents had to travel by car, bus or motorbike instead. They found that subways slash CO2 emissions by 50% per city and reduce total global emissions by 11%.
