Sweden has extended childcare leave to grandparents and friends

Parents can transfer up to 45 days of paid leave to someone who isn’t the child’s legal guardian, such as a relative or friend. Single parents can transfer up to 90 days out of a total of 480 days’ leave. The new rules came into force on 1 July. They aim to give families more flexibility.
