The world of work is changing, but many school systems face challenges adapting to the needs of today’s learners. They’re still prioritizing written test scores over problem-solving, and recall over relationship skills.

An unprecedented collaboration between New York State, teachers’ unions, and Micron aims to change all that - by giving kids access to the technical knowhow they need (and want) to learn.

New York has launched a 3-year pilot across 10 schools that helps pupils practise the vital STEM skills they’ll need to enter a future career in manufacturing or technology. You can hear from a host of students - as well as AFT President Randi Weingarten - in this video. Every region will need its own approach, but New York’s pilot shows how collaboration can help education systems prepare for the future.
