This Accessible Mapping Tool is Supercharging Mangrove Conservation

Mangroves store staggering amounts of ‘blue’ carbon, 4 times more than rainforests per hectare. They also protect shorelines from waves and storms and act as habitats for an incredibly diverse range of species. But they’re being deforested at an alarming rate. This app combines satellite images with local measurements to give coastal NGOs a simple way of monitoring mangroves.
