The women’s health gap should not exist. Here’s how to close it

This video is part of: Centre for Health and Healthcare

Just 6% of private #healthcare funding goes towards women’s health, and across multiple diseases affecting both sexes, only 3% of studies look at how those diseases affect women. As a result, women are diagnosed late for more than 700 conditions - and spend 25% more of their lives in poorer health than men, a study by the World Economic Forum and McKinsey found. These statistics are shocking - but they’re not set in stone, says Paula Bellostas, Healthcare Global Lead at Kearney and a co-author of a new World Economic Forum paper on women’s #health innovation. She says that closing the women’s health gap means bringing gender into research right from the outset - and women advocating for themselves as patients.
