Paris to host the first-ever gender-equal Olympics
Paris will be making history in 2024 by hosting the first Olympic Games with an equal number of male and female athletes competing.
Paris 2024: milestone for gender-equal Olympics
This marks a significant milestone for women in sports, coming a long way from 1900 when Paris first hosted the Games, and only 2.2% of competitors were women.
The rise of women's sports
Women's sports are experiencing explosive growth in popularity. This year, the industry is projected to generate over $1 billion in revenue for the first time, reflecting a 300% increase in just three years.
Working towards gender equality
Despite these advancements, the world still has a way to go towards complete gender equality. While the current gap is 68.6% closed, it's estimated to take another 131 years to reach full parity.
Paris 2024 is a significant step forward, but the journey continues.
