Scotland is turning old telecoms boxes into electric car chargers

Green boxes are a common sight on Scottish roads. They were originally built by telecoms company BT to store broadband and phone cables. But as BT moves to fibre broadband, the boxes are falling out of use. BT’s start-up incubation hub Etc. is running a trial which transforms the ubiquitous hubs into electric car chargers. During the pilot, local residents can charge for free.
