Stefan Selig

Stefan M. Selig is the United States Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade and head of the International Trade Administration. He is also the Executive Director of the President's Export Council.

At the Department of Commerce, ITA works to develop U.S. trade policy globally, create jobs and economic growth by promoting American companies and strengthening U.S. competitiveness across all industries, and ensure the enforcement and compliance of the country's many trade agreements.

In his role, Under Secretary Selig also serves as the Executive Director of the Travel and Tourism Advisory Board, is a board member of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and is a Commissioner for the Congressional Executive Commission on China. Prior to his appointment, Selig was the Executive Vice Chairman, in charge of Global Corporate and Investment Banking, at Bank of America Merril Lynch. He received a B.A. in Economics from Wesleyan University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He is a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
