Australia has banned social media for under-16s. What are the pros and cons of the ban?

Australia’s parliament has approved the world’s strictest online laws for children, banning users under 16 from accessing social media platforms. The bill won’t take effect for at least another 12 months, but it could see firms including Reddit, X and TikTok fined up to AUD$50 million (€31 million) if they fail to comply.
