This East African city was devastated by a cyclone. Today it’s a showcase for climate adaptation

Cyclone Idai hit Beira, Mozambique, in March 2019. It was one of the most devastating storms ever recorded. Heavy rains and strong winds battered the city destroying or damaging most of its buildings. When Cyclone Freddy hit the same region 4 years later, however, Beira was far better prepared to weather the storm.
