Electric vehicles will save Europe 20 million tonnes of CO2 this year

Generally, transport has lagged behind in Europe’s decarbonization drive. In 2018 just 2% of new cars sold in the EU were electric. But by 2023 this had surged to 23% with the upward trend looking set to continue. Electric vehicles will save Europe 20 million tonnes of CO2 this year, equivalent to the annual emissions from 8 coal plants.
