How Often Should You Exercise? Here’s What the Experts Say

Healthy adults up to 65 should do at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise on 4-5 days, adding up to 2.5 hours a week or at least 1.25 hours of vigorous exercise a week. For kids, moderate movement is at least an hour a day. Hitting those levels would prevent 1 in 6 early cancer and heart disease deaths. That’s just a starting point, though. To see real benefits, the WHO recommends 5 hours a week. Exercise has many health benefits, from strengthening muscles and bones to improving memory, mood, and even your microbiome.
