In Spain, you can get solar power from your neighbours’ roof

Local buildings such as schools and businesses rent roof space to energy company Iberdrola. The company instals solar panels for free and the roof’s owner becomes a ‘Solar Host’. They receive first access to any solar energy and get an average of 30% off their power bills. Meanwhile, homes and businesses in a 2km radius are classed as ‘Solar Neighbours’. They can pay a subscription for steady solar power without the need for any long-term commitment.
