Google has signed a deal to buy power from small modular reactors (SMRs) to help meet AI’s growing electricity demands. Small modular reactors generate about one-third as much energy as a standard nuclear plant. They are smaller and cheaper to build than standard nuclear plants making them suitable for locations where a larger reactor isn’t feasible.
