This solar company has powered 1 million homes in West Africa

In Sierra Leone, around two-thirds of the population are not connected to the power grid. This interrupts people at work, rest and play; stops children from doing their schoolwork; and forces people to rely on diesel, torches, and kerosene lamps to light their households. Easy Solar has come up with an affordable and reliable solution, explains co-founder Nthabiseng Mosia. Customers buy a basic solar kit with a down payment, paying off the rest in interest-free instalments. With that, they gain access to emissions-free electricity generated by something Sierra Leone has in abundance: sunshine.
