What Is the UN Water Conference, and Why Is It So Important?

On 22-24 March, the UN will host the 2023 Water Conference in New York. It’s the first global freshwater conference in nearly 50 years, and it comes halfway through the UN’s Water Action Decade amid a growing global water crisis. Two-thirds of the global population experience severe water scarcity every year. While 2 billion are still without basic sanitation. The Water Conference doesn’t aim to negotiate any new commitments.
