Open Forum: Life Lessons from Jazz -- Improvisation as a Way of Life

World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2013
Loading...

Today, Jazz has become one of the world's first truly global musics, while retaining its African American roots, principles and aesthetics. The centrality of improvisation, the fluidity of leadership and the collective nature of a jazz band have enabled jazz to absorb new traits without sacrificing its identity.

1. How do jazz musicians use improvisation to create their art form?
2. How can those processes translate into daily life and enrich our experiences?
3. What can jazz teach us about nurturing our own creativity, interactions and survival skills?
4. How can jazz serve as a strategic model for diplomacy, leadership and innovation?
