Former Correspondent, Financial Times, Johannesburg, London and Washington DC. 2000-05, Policy Director, Office of the Administrator, United Nations Development Programme. 2005-07, Senior Adviser, Policy and Strategic Communications, Office of the UN Secretary-General; 2007, joined the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as Director, Global Development Policy, Advocacy and Special Initiatives, then held dual titles as Chief Strategy Officer and President of Global Policy & Advocacy, leading a team that helps build strategic relationships with gov't, NGOs and other key partners to increase awareness, action and resources devoted to global dev. and health priorities; also oversees regional offices and strategic presence in Europe, Africa, and China. He became CEO February 2020.
