A Latin American social entrepreneur and thought leader bringing science and innovation to ignite international collaboration for development. Matias founded Shaping Horizons, a social innovation enterprise and decentralized community in over 30 countries that promotes entrepreneurial youth education and boosts corporate leadership. During his academic career at the University of Cambridge and Technical University of Darmstadt, he published over 50 articles, 2 patents and a book cited more than 3,000 times in natural and social sciences. His work advanced a wide range of research topics related to materials science, the internet of things, energy devices, policy and science diplomacy. He also worked on transferring this knowledge into innovation strategies for sustainability and was a consultant for multinationals and SMEs. Matias has also put his academic background into practice to ignite social change by serving as Head of Exploration in UNDP Argentina.
