Nabil Ali Shaiban

Senior Operations Officer, World Bank

Mr. Shaiban is a staff of the World Bank based in Sana’a, Yemen.  He is currently managing the Support Project for the Yemen Mutual Accountability Framework (MAF) and the Executive Bureau.  Mr. Shaiban had previously worked as a consultant in and outside Yemen in the fields of governance, project management, project monitoring and evaluation, political economy analysis and aid effectiveness.   From 1990 till October 2010, Mr. Shaiban served in the government of Yemen in the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.  He served in different capacities including Director General for International Development Cooperation, Head of the Aid Hamronization and Alignment Unit and Head of the Technical Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation.
Mr. Shaiban carried out and contributed to several studies and policy papers in relation to governance, state building and economic reforms including analytical papers on Aid Architecture and Aid Management and Policy in Yemen, State Building 2009, Government of Yemen National Reform Agenda, Government-Donor Compact and Aid Effectiveness.
Mr. Shaiban holds an MA in Political Communication and Journalism Studies from the United Kingdom.  He also holds a Bachelor Degree in Engineering Management from the United States of America.
