Transport reform is crucial to limiting the worst effects of climate change
Transport contributes nearly a quarter of all energy-related greenhouse gas emissions, and 18% of all manmade emissions in the global economy.
Technologies play a critical role in the global energy transition, reaching Paris Agreement climate goals, delivering universal energy access, and decreasing air pollution. Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies will influence both energy demand and supply, and designing their role in the overall system is critical. The Global Future Council on Advanced Energy Technologies will focus on better understanding the intersection of these technologies and the energy sector, and on making recommendations for action to accelerate the energy transition and ensure economic and societal benefits.
