How a Great Green Wall could help Africa combat climate change
An ambitious African-led project aims to transform the lives of millions living on the frontline of the climate crisis, by restoring forests and creating green jobs.
Launched in 2002 with the vision of "an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in global arena", the African Union Commission has shifted focus to spearhead Africa's development and integration. Its objectives are, among others, to achieve greater unity and solidarity between the African countries and the peoples of Africa, to accelerate the political and socioeconomic integration of the continent, and to promote peace, security and stability on the continent.
