Latin America is squandering its most valuable resource. Here’s what we need to do
Despite outstanding biodiversity, our countries are failing to capitalize on their natural riches.
IPE - Institute for Ecological Research promotes the conservation of Brazil's biodiversity and sustainable development alternatives for unprivileged communities in five Brazilian regions. Its programmes include rare and endangered species research and actions, environmental education and sustainable alternatives for income generation in local communities, and degraded area recovery through the planting of native trees forming corridors that link forest fragments and enhance landscapes. IPE also influences biodiversity conservation and sustainability policies, works for carbon offsets, and has private sector partnerships. IPE's mission is to develop and disseminate innovative biodiversity conservation models and socio-economic development through science, education and sustainable business.
